Rebecca Javadi

2nd grade instructor - Merrick Moore Elementary School, Durham, NC

We  were particularly excited about raising funds for Ms. Javadi, because  she was our first ever "adopted" teacher through Project ClassAct!

Over  the month of January, we collected donations from various individuals  and companies throughout the community, as well as from our own board  members. All told, we raised $1000 for Ms. Javadi, and Marcus and Robin, our board vice-chair, were thrilled to surprise her and her students with the funds.

Here's how Ms. Javadi's used the funds we raised for her:

  • She bought 3 LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Sets, 1 LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Expansion Set, and 1 Simple & Powered Machines Set, all to help her students learn advanced engineering and robotics principles through STEM projects and other fun activities.

  • She bought 100 copies of Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone, The Boxcar Children, The School Is Alive!, and other titles to create a fully-stocked classroom library.

  • She bought book bins, storage carts, magnetic display shelves, and other classroom essentials.

  • She bought 2 interactive whiteboard tables, to help enhance her students' everyday learning activities.

We're so thrilled to have been able to help Ms. Javadi and her students, and we're excited about all the progress they'll soon make with their LEGO sets, books, and other fun classroom materials!
