About Marcus

Marcus Harris is a devoted father, as well as a bestselling, award-winning, critically acclaimed poet, author,  playwright, filmmaker, volunteer, philanthropist, and activist. He's long been hailed for his  insightful, timely, and often poignantly humorous body of poetry, prose, and commentary.

Marcus' writings have been featured in Ebony, Essence, and Rhapsody Magazines, as well as in numerous print journals and ezines. He's been praised for his skill at combining traditional poetic elements with a modern improvisational style to highlight issues of cultural, political, and societal importance.

An impassioned advocate for arts education, Marcus has presented poetry workshops at numerous elementary, middle, and high schools. He also regularly visits college campuses and presents guest lectures on the topics of literature and publishing in the modern era.

Marcus has served as a community volunteer for years, having been actively involved with mentorship organizations, tutoring programs, and homeless shelters.

Marcus' primary goal for the Marcus Harris Foundation is to assist those in underserved areas, through such programs and services as scholarships, grants, and general community support. Bolstered by strategic community and corporate partnerships, the foundation is a natural reflection of Marcus' ongoing desire to help those in greatest need.
